March has been an eventful month for KABSEC Training.

We welcomed Police Community Support Officers from South Yorkshire Police on to the Level 4 Crime Prevention for Practitioners course. Due to the present COVID restrictions the course commenced online via ‘Teams’ and was opened by Chief Inspector Paul Ferguson of Barnsley Police Station, before they were introduced to their trainers and assessors.

On the same day we inducted West Yorkshire Police on to the Level 5 Diploma in Crime PreventionDesigning Out Crime Course. Dawn Wilkinson, Force Crime Prevention Officer welcomed the candidates who were all Designing Out Crime Officers for West Yorkshire and one additional candidate from Transport for London. The course, which is the equivalent of a foundation degree, is being undertaken by utilising the ‘Recognised Previous Learning routeway due to their existing experience in crime prevention.

The students met and were allocated their assessors who have recently passed the diploma and are accomplished DOCOs. The assessors were able to explain and review the qualification with the candidates, preparing them with what was required, clarifying any ambiguities and reassuring anyone who may have not undertaken a formal qualification recently that they would be available for support and guidance.
